Some Off-Leash Fun

Walking with your dog is not only fun it’s a form of exercise. How often do you get out for a walk with your dog?

I love going for walks with my pup. Snow, my 8 month old Pug, hates being locked inside all day. She gets so excited when I get home and I can finally take her for a walk all around Forth Worth. I think it might be time to actually get her socialized with other dogs though. The best place to do that is at Fort Woof Park!

Have you been looking for a park to take your dog to? Well, you should definitely try going to, Fort Woof, Fort Worth’s first fenced off-leash dog park.

Where It Is: The park is located at Gateway Park, north of Interstate 30 between Beach Street and Oakland Boulevard, east of downtown. It’s open from 5:00 am to 11:30 pm daily. The park provides an ideal place for dogs and their owners to have fun, within the limits defined in the park rules.

Why You Should Take Your Dog To A Dog Park –

  • Your dog can run free!
  • Your dog can learn how to interact with other dogs.
  • It’s close to home.
  • You can mingle with other dog enthusiasts.
  • Your dog can mingle with other dog enthusiasts.
  • You get to meet lots of new dogs!

More About Fort Woof Park.

Check Out What reviews say about this dog park. Majority of the reviews gove this dog park five stars!

“This dog park is amazing and it has gotten even better since the last time I visited!”

“Both sides now have agility equipment- nice agility equipment- as well.”

“I give Fort Woof five paws up. My two dogs love it so much; they’ve even tried to jump out of the car when pulling in. Now its window’s up!”

Are you reading in-between the lines?

I am constantly worried about what I buy at the store and how it will affect the girth on my hips. I also frequently check labels for my toddler who can go crazy on a sugar-high. I’ve become quite an expert at reading food labels, or so I thought.

I found a list of tips to help hone my skills as a nutritional shopper extraordinaire. Warning: some labels are deceptive! Hopefully you’ll find these tips useful too.

10 Tips for Reading the Nutrition Facts panel:

1. Look at ingredient lists: they’re the core of the label. Ingredients are listed in order of weight. You should carefully check ingredients for contents like partially hydrogenated and hydrogenated oils, as these signify the presence of trans fats.

Fortunately, it’s getting easier and easier just to find brands that have no hydrogenated fats among the ingredients. Also look for added sugars (see above) and whole grains—the label must say “whole,” not just “wheat flour.”

2. Starting from the top of the label, look at the serving size. These are often unrealistically small. If you eat more than what the serving size indicates, you need to multiply all nutritional contents accordingly.

3. Next is the number of calories per serving, and the calories from fat. The total number of calories is very important if you’re attempting to control your weight. The calories from fat is less important. Much more important is the type of fat.

Just Listen

Do you think you have effective communicating skills?

Sometimes I feel like people think I am talking in a different language. I find it so hard to effectively communicate with the people around me. Not having the communications skills can make life difficult and confusing. It’s like living in a country where everyone speaks something other than the language you speak. Especially, when I’m arguing with people, I can never get my point across and I end up losing the fight. Not because I was wrong, but because I just gave up. I get so frustrated that I tend to talk and talk until something right comes out. By that time the argument has escaladed into a fight. And at that point I don’t want to do anymore listening.

Do you have trouble communicating with others? Or do you find in hard to listen during arguments and conversations

If you really think about it, in order to become successful in life you must be a good communicator. You must be able to listen well and speak well. The most important and influential people of our day are people how have great communication and speaking skills. It’s very important to develop proper communications skills. I just wish I was one of those people where talking and expressing yourself came naturally. Some people are just blessed with the natural flair for communicating and a strong sense of confidence or charm that endears them to others.

Do you want to learn how to effectively communicate with others? In celebration of  Effective Communications Month learn how to listen to people and speak when necessary. You will notice improvement in your life and your communication skills.

Listen First, Then Talk – When it comes to arguments and communications, listening is essential. When you are having conversations with someone allow them to talk. Give him or her your undivided attention. Stay focused, absorb the information that is being given to you. Don’t think about what you are going to say while that person is talking to you. Find a way to follow up with a question when that person has given their point.

After you have heard their side and their point then you can talk. Author Pablo Golub says, “You have two ears and one mouth for a reason. Therefore, you should listen twice as much as you speak.”
